i liked all of the casting, other than terrence howard. he was the weakest link. downey jr did great, i felt like he sort of stole the show, though i was very pleased with jeff bridges overall. as for the best line in the movie, well, i felt that was delivered by his middle eastern assistant.

I thought Downy fit well. You say that he'd be too soft to play a person that would fight for things. You have to imagine, he has an almost indestructible suit, giving him the feeling of invincibility. I mean, if you walk into a knife fight with a gun, you'd probably feel pretty safe...

Paltrow did a absolutely nothing. They just threw her a bone.

Howard is a decent actor, but he didn't fit in at all, I mean, you could at least try to cover up your accent and speech that makes you sound like a high school drop out. He really didn't make me feel he was a high ranking airforce person.

Bridges, yea, I liked him. Bad guys are good.

all in all, I watched it, but I got nothing from it. It was a mini army commercial and a way for Americans to kill "bad terrorists" again. Yippy, ... lets wave a few American flags and say the pledge of allegiance now. I'll stick with my Batman, Spiderman and X-men movies.

PLEASE STOP MAKING EVERY LOWSEY COMIC BOOK INTO A MOVIE! IF YOU DON'T STOP, YOU'RE GOING TO BURN THE GENRE OUT!

I like Downey in general just not him being a fighter. I can see him being everything else easily but then him being physical enough to duke it out with someone just isn't believable to me. And really that is where it sort of went under for me.

And really you didn't like the "taking out the trash" line the most?

nah, it was ok. but there were other similar lines. i like "youre a man who has everything - and nothing."

i thought it was good, you're right about the script being nice and soft but i do think downey jr and gweneth paltrow were good choices

Robert Doweny Jr carried the movie - he and jeff bridges together were fantastic

I'm kinda shocked by the disapproval of Downey. I thought this was one of the best castings i've seen in quite sometime. He's great in that role and he pulls it off well. I really liked the movie, it was much better than I had anticipated it being.

yeah, im in the downey is tops for the job, camp.
for starters, the character needs to come off as brilliant, not just a fighter. and i think someone else said, its not he himself that has the courage to fight, but the suit that grants him the courage. combined with his change of heart/priorities, voila.

I quite liked the movie. I also loled at the Tom Morello cameo. I didn't really lol at the Peter Billingsly cameo because it wasn't funny...And the Jon Favreau cameo was just dumb.
Overall the movie wasn't as *spectacular* as I wanted it to be--I blame the trailer for that. It really left nothing to the imagination. I sorta love Robert Downey Jr too. I'm AAALLLLLmost over Terrence Howard being in every single movie for the past year or so.

Saw it last night. I thought it was well done, as far as the comic book adaptations have been so far.

For the guys pissing in the Cheerios so far, remember a couple things:

1) It's an adaptation; thus it will NOT carry the impact the comics did for you, or be able to, in a 2:09 movie, be able to develop the characters fully. If they tried, more people would leave the theater going "WTF?" than you did. They'll take you in the minority any day, and then count their cash.

2) Comics are not mainstream. They're left for the underbelly of society, and those people get WAY into the particular comics of their choice. You just can't please everybody.

That being said, I thought thy did a very good job with it. There wasn't any Eva Mendes role where the actor just puked all over the picture like in "Ghost Rider."

Gawd she was horrible.

Terrence Howard is infinitely more attractive and exponentially less psychotic then Jasoncross

$100 million plus opening weekend, guess we'll see every two-bit, second rate superhero ever invented coming out in a movie now.

Birdman
Space Ghost
Hawkman
Thor
Sub-Mariner
Iceman
ect.

whats everyone's problem with them making more Marvel or other superhero movies? the only one that was complete shit was the hulk and they're remaking it because they knew it was.

now if every superhero movie sucked, then i could see everyone bitching about it, but they don't

Thor could be cool. Didn't they do that already though?

We'll absolutely see more comic book movies. Iron Man was the first release of Marvel Studios, and now that they see that they as a studio can release a movie that will rake in $100mil in the first weekend ($104 including the midnight showings), they'll definitely be stepping it up. They'll be able to fund their own films so that'll help.
