OJ Mayo has received thousands of dollars in clothes, and other shit the past 4 years...

Does it even matter because he went to school for only a year?

well it does matter for USC and their future with scholarships and recruiting...

but eh, it's kind of a dead issue since he declared for the NBA

Yeah, I wonder what the NCAA will do to USC.

I don't even know why teams use a scholarship on athletes they know for a fact are only going to stay for 1 year.

And to top it off, I think OJ Mayo played average at best all season. He didn't impress me at all.

it is a mistake for him to move on...but i think most guys are like that as well..only a couple exceptions each year are ones i think should declare after 1 year

You're right. There is only so many people who can go to college for a year and be ready for the NBA...maybe a handful...if that.

OJ Mayo wasn't one of them, but he'll get drafted super high based on potential, just like everyone else, even though he had a shit year, considering all the hype on him heading into the season.

This is so lame, every star athlete like this gets money and gifts...people should just stfu and accept that it happens because you can't just go punishing a few people when it happens everywhere

it goes against recruiting though...thats why it is not allowed...if you have two schools you are thinking about going to...and one of them says they will buy you shit and basically let you live like a king..and the other one just offers you a scholarship...which one are you going to go to?

it is unfair to other school trying to recruit him, hence why it is not allowed...they want everyone on an even playing ground

I heard that the NBA might punish the agents and the firms they work for by not letting them represent ANY NBA player if they get caught doing that. I hope that happens.

OJ Mayo came from a somewhat poor family and all of a sudden had a nice car, flat screen TVs, all designer clothes (which isn't cheap) and like $30,000.

I highly doubt his mother could afford all that shit.

i dont care

the only clean programs are the ones that have been busted

even division 2 schools give shit to their players, and i know this first hand.

and who really gives a fuck? the bans and fines and taking away of championships because of this dumb shit is for the birds

FOR THE BIRDS I TELL YA

I think banning these agents/firms from representing players as they turn pro is the best solution.

~ Hammer USC! This is happening WAY TOO MUCH and not just in Southern California. Make an example and strip a healthy chunk of their program from them. Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo are poster children for this kind of thing
