Yeah, it sucks. What sucks about it? Just about everything. When I first fired this up, I had the program docking thing that was on top/center of my desktop, but it's gone now and I don't really know where it went. And it just looks so....different :\

Oh yeah, and it came with Norton something whatever. It's too bubbly for my likeing, as soon as it expires I'll be installing norton corp. But I think I've tinkered with it enough to kinda look like previous windows versions for now.

I have Home Premium.

It's OK. The only issue I had with it is that it didn't recognize some of my printer drivers.

So I just got a new printer instead. :)

I had the choice of what OS I wanted when I built my new computer a month ago. I could have gone with XP pro again, but I chose Vista Home Premium. I have no regrets. It installed and worked just fine and while it took some time using it to get used to where it differs from XP, that isn't any big deal either. That happens every time there is a major OS upgrade. It happened the first time I sat at a computer with Windows 95 after learning windows with 3.11. It happened when I went with XP from win 98.

Vista does have advantages over XP. Those are more important to me than having to learn my way around.

i concur. everyone said the same thing when xp came out, except a lot of users were still using 98 and it was a drastic learning curve, less so for those using 2000. give it enough time and everyone will be using vista and wonder how they dealt with xp. not that xp is a bad os, but ms will discontinue it to promote vista as they always do.

on another note i went to vista in january and have been very happy with it. I run winxp on a virtual machine because vs2k3 isnt compatible apparently, but its no big deal since my computer has plenty of resources to run 2 or even 3 virtual machines at once. one thing that i do have a complaint about is the search function. I can search for files that i clearly know exist but am often unable to find them. but that is more of a rare occurence so I dont worry about it.

furthermore, the answer to MS products is NOT linux. dont get me wrong, i have used linux and it is a great OS, but recommending them to someone who has used windows the majority of their life and doesnt have much technical knowledge is just stupid. if you dont understand english, learn spanish, not chinese.

That might not make sense...but I'm not computer retarded so I've had no problems with Vista, just my old logitech webcam wasn't compatible but that's Logitech's doing, they won't release really old cam drivers bc it forces u to buy a new one

Sooo, being used to the hierarchy of a filing system for 13 years suddenly changes, including but not limited to, name changes combined with different paths, and one says "well that's shit" they're a dumbass? idgi

yeah, you're right. literally the only problem with vista is web cam driver issues.
all the other problems people claim to have with it are bullocks.

My favourite fun part about installing vista way back was that it had to be installed on the first partition of the first HDD in my system.
Super neat new feature! Thanks Microsoft, juggling hard drives is awesome.

You would cry if you ran linux.

The install size of the installation I'm currently on is over 4GB and it is currently running ~160 processes.

Linux is a whole new ball park when it comes to how the system runs. Most modern distros running gnome or KDE will sit around the same.

That being said, they don't have nearly the impact as most of them are usually sleeping.

I run openSUSE on desktops, and slackware on servers.... ubuntu is ok, but I dislike most debian based distros because of their non-standard packages and arrogant user base.
