there's an add friends button, but it just has a box w/ an X in it, then the word friends behind it. just click on the word friends and it'll add that person to your friends list.

keep in mind, you can only add 40 friends to your list.
there's also a hot list feature

if you have your email notifications on, you get an email from ppl who want to meet you. so whoever you're clicking on (provided they have their emails on) might get an email w/ your photo in saying you want to meet them
