How about joining a local baseball or softball team, playing right field, and proving everybody wrong.

Start small and work your way up.

no kidding..try playing and do it your way and see if your team starts telling you to STOP throwing the damn ball to first to try and get the go out

At a recreational league level, one might be able to do what you are all claiming.

At a higher level, good players on good teams will have scouted you out and adjusted their play.

In the majors, you would just look like a giant fool.

yeah no doubt...in some rec league you might since the talent isn't there...but not in the majors...no way

but a blooper even is about impossible to throw him out to...maybe just the hustle to get the ball, ok yeah do that..but always always always throw it into second base..

well if its a blooper the outfielders have a long way to come get the ball, and its slower hit so the runner is generally already at first, or close enough that a throw would be silly

well the guy running, if jogging, as soon as he saw the guy charging and preparing to throw, he would pick it up and run it out...

just a bad bad idea to throw the ball into first...more bad can come from it than good

i do believe that too many MLBers do not run out the play when they should
you never know when there will be a bad throw and you can get to 2nd

however, i dont think that there are many bad plays when not throwing the ball

well college, they have to show hustle because they are trying to impress the scouts...pros..well, they already made it

thats why college basketball and football are more fun to watch because of the hustle and drive to play the game

baseball, eh...it's generally a slow game to begin with so yeah

and i think there is way more passion in them
theres more pride in a school for players than a random city that picked them

Even in the majors, guys need to hustle.

Carlos Lee is about the only guy I can think of off the top of my head who appears to dog it a bit.

He is mostly there just for his bat.

Look for him to be a DH in the next few years.

if you don't think they try, you are mistaken.

you will have guys with off days, or guys in decline, but that has to be a serious low percentage of the players.

then what you failed to realize DUMBASS, is that we were talking about needing hustle in the sport of baseball and Pete Rose is the PERFECT and BEST example for hustle in the game of baseball...what he did off the field has nothing to do with how he played the game...for god's sake..the dude sprinted down first base on walks and ended a guys career during an ALL-STAR game because he played the game with fiery passion and intensity...he never half-assed anything

yeah slim dude is an idiot on how pete rose played. lead the league and record for hits. but he sure as hell hussled.
